Key Responsibilities
- Plans the production for the shift by analyzing what parts are to be painted and coordinating the flow of parts to maximize quality and productivity.
- Assigns tasks to lower-level employees in the department.
- Receives parts to be painted from paint assistant or coordinator. Verifies what processes are to be completed.
- Work closely with Paint Assistants and other experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
- Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
- Mixes paint to specifications. Paints parts with the appropriate thickness as described on the specifications.
- Verifies paint thickness using an Isoscope.
- Paints by using the best technique to maximize quality and productivity.
- Moves racks or parts between the staging area and oven.
- General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
- Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
- Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
- Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required.
- Maintain paint guns
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
