AE PLC and Robotics Instructor for Advanced Manufacturing Maintenance

About the role

Part-time evening instructors are needed to teach one or several courses in PLCs and Robotics. Each class runs approximately 4–5 weeks, meeting two nights per week. Instructors will deliver instructional activities aligned with program objectives and academic standards set by the Upper Valley Career Center and the State of Ohio, fostering skill development, human relations, and leadership qualities essential for gainful employment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning activities that encourage teamwork, positive peer relationships, and reinforce employability skills.
• Develop lesson plans that engage adult learners in both classroom and laboratory settings.
• Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessment strategies.
• Coordinate with employers to provide real-world experiences and opportunities for students.
• Prepare students for industry credential assessments.
• Assist the program coordinator with curriculum development, course scheduling, and Program Advisory Committee meetings.

Qualifications

• Five years of work experience in the field of expertise or an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in the field plus three years of work experience in industrial maintenance and machine repair with PLC experience.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with Control Logix 5000, Logix Pro, RS Logix, and HMI software preferred; experience with relay logic and variable frequency drives (VFDs) also preferred. Candidates with Siemens PLC experience will be considered.
• Robotics experience in theory and application; FANUC and Yaskawa/Motoman experience a plus.
• Holds or is able to obtain a valid Ohio State Board of Education Adult Education Permit.
• Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment and can pass a BCI/FBI background check.
• Complies with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

Pay

Compensation is $26.00 per hour on an as-needed basis, with a maximum of 839 working hours in an academic year. Placement on the Adult Education Intermittent/Hourly Salary Schedule is determined by education and experience.

Schedule

Part-time, evening classes held two nights per week for approximately 4–5 weeks per course. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.
