Our Fortune 500 client in Township, NJ is looking for a motivated Advisor, IT Network Development to join their innovative team onsite.
About the Role
This is a contract position with a duration of 5+ months and high possibilities of extension. The role is fully onsite in Township, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Defines network business requirements and implements effective global network strategies
- Designs secure network solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources across the company
- Coordinates with multiple vendors/departments to procure network-related hardware, software, and services
- Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues
- Creates and shares roadmap and technical support to determine network business needs throughout the company
- Evaluates, tests, recommends, and implements specific network solutions
- Researches emerging network technologies and makes recommendations based on future business needs
- Schedules and coordinates installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensures compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software
- Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, innovations, and secure network solutions
- Designs and manages global network infrastructure
- Tests, configures, and deploys operating system/software including Service Packs, upgrades, and hot fixes
- Integrates multiple messaging platforms with wireless technologies such as Blackberrys
- Analyzes and improves efficient messaging delivery strategies
- Supports, modifies, and updates the hardware and messaging software systems
- Troubleshoots and resolves customer problems using integrated data processing and communication solutions
- Performs research, operation studies, design reviews, and technical briefings with clients
- Provides advice, recommendations, and technical support to customers
- Prepares documentation that will assist in the maintenance of the groupware system
- Conducts analysis, prepares reports, and works on project implementation
- Performs complex issue analysis and may perform lead role on smaller or less complex projects
- Establishes project plans, budgets, schedules, and documentation of work
- Conducts periodic vulnerability and security risk assessment of the network assets within the organization; ensures network availability to all users
- Controls, tests, and analyzes the status and performance of all components of network facilities
- Designs total systems solutions for smaller organizations or segments of large organizations, typically using third-party hardware and software
- Coordinates the installation of servers and storage equipment within the IT Data Center; manages capacity planning of the environment
- Interfaces with global providers to develop, implement, and troubleshoot unified communications solutions; plans and implements complex global unified communications infrastructures
- Collaborates with other engineering and architecture groups, readily shares information with others; actively seeks customer input and takes responsibility for customer situations
- Contributes to the development of innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems or design of complex integrated data processing and communication solutions
- Provides significant direction in areas such as research studies, tradeoff analysis, operation studies, design reviews, and technical briefings
- Makes decisions on operating procedures, analytical approaches, and workflow
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Layer 2/Layer 3 switching technologies
- Develop and implement network automation solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Manage and optimize network performance, availability, and security across data center and campus environments
- Automate routine network operations using scripting and orchestration tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network integration and deployment efforts
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures
- Participate in change management, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of network engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 switching (VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, VTP, PortChannel, and routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP)
- Network design and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience with network automation tools, such as Python, Ansible, or similar scripting/automation frameworks
- Proficiency in REST APIs and network programmability concepts
- Familiarity with major networking platforms (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Juniper)
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security fundamentals
Pay
$55-66/hr on W2
