Job Purpose

The Adventure Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day mountaineer program operations as well as creating new offerings. This role primarily manages ski school programs, summer youth programs, and assists the Adventure Manager in overseeing and expanding adventure programs. The Adventure Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a high level guest experience and doing so in a cost-effective manner.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Builds and structures offerings to best leverage demand, terrain, rental equipment and staffing
  • Supervises mountaineer personnel, classes/lessons and participating guests
  • Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships
  • Understands business principles and the need for meticulous organizational skills
  • Works with guests of all ages and ability levels
  • Fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
  • Has excellent guest service and communicative skills
  • Can work comfortably in a diverse and fast-paced team environment
  • Interviews and hires all seasonal personnel
  • Covers and conducts training sessions for both new and returning personnel, and supports them throughout each season
  • Schedules and assigns staff according to anticipated guest needs
  • Encourages the professional development of employees
  • Upholds the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain, weather conditions, and potentially high-pressure environments
  • Ensures new hire paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Performs exit evaluations and rehire recommendations
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
  • Has a clean and welcoming appearance
  • Able to safely navigate uneven and slippery terrain
  • Clearly and accurately provides instructions to staff and students at varying levels of skill, both physically and verbally
  • When working with children: Supervises children in class at all times; assists at lunch and snack times; ensures return of children to identified guardian
  • Assists in operational responsibilities of programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate areas of learning, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred
  • Demonstrated supervisory and instructing/coaching experience
  • Proficient in required software, including but not limited to Google Suite
  • Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Capable of operating basic office equipment
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage time, resources, and technology
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding office, employee, and company information
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout operational seasons
  • Familiarity with computers, smartphones, tablets, kayaks, bikes, alpine skis, and snowboards is essential

Preferred Experience

  • SafeSport, ACA, PSIA, or AASI certification preferred
  • Previous experience working with youth in outdoor settings
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
  • 3 years previous ski/snowboard instructor experience
  • Knowledge of local area/resort
  • Caring for and/or working with children ages 3+
  • Outdoor facilitation background

Physical And Mental Demands

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry 50 yards
  • Able to work outside in temperatures below 32 degrees and up to 90 degrees for (8) hours
  • Able to work in a standing position for up to (8) hours
  • Advanced skiing/snowboarding ability
  • Kayak experience or willingness to learn
