Connexion Systems & Engineering is seeking an experienced Advanced Quality Engineer to lead the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new product launches and major customer programs. This hands-on role ensures manufacturing processes are capable, validated, and ready for production.
About the role
You will own the complete PPAP process, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to develop quality documentation and validation required for customer approval. This contract assignment is expected to last 6+ months, with potential for extension or permanent employment based on business needs and performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the complete PPAP process from initial planning through customer approval.
- Prepare and manage PPAP documentation, including:
- Process Flow Diagrams
- PFMEAs
- Control Plans
- Dimensional results
- Capability studies
- Customer submission packages
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support new product introductions (NPI) and production readiness.
- Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and ensure customer requirements are met.
- Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R studies, and Process Capability (Cpk) analysis.
- Develop inspection methods, improve measurement processes, and recommend new gaging solutions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Support manufacturing process improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to obtain material certifications, supplier documentation, and traceability records.
- Work directly with internal teams and customers to resolve quality issues and achieve PPAP approval.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing PPAP and APQP activities.
- Strong knowledge of:
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- Process Flow Diagrams
- MSA
- Gage R&R
- Cpk analysis
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong mechanical inspection and manufacturing process knowledge.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting new product launches or manufacturing transfers.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
- Industry experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Device, Plastics Manufacturing, Injection Molding, or Precision Manufacturing.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
Schedule
- Location: Lowell, MA (onsite)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (flexible)
- Hours: Full-time preferred; candidates seeking 20 hours/week may be considered
- Duration: 6+ month contract with potential for extension or permanent hire
Pay
$40–$48/hour depending on experience
