About the Role

As an Advanced Quality Engineer, you will ensure that products and processes meet defined standards and requirements internally and externally throughout the entire product life cycle, with a focus on preventing risk during all stages of Advanced Quality Planning (AQP). You will drive customer scorecards to “green” status through problem solving, monthly reporting, and interactions with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production limitations and problems, and review statistical data on production quality by line, shift, and department to produce recommendations.
  • Review and implement specification revisions.
  • Formulate or assist in formulating quality standards, policies, programs, plans, procedures, and practices.
  • Continuously review the economics of the quality program and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure adequate and continuous control procedures are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality.
  • Establish and verify quality disciplines during all phases of product/process development and launch.
  • Ensure compliance to internal and external standards and requirements, including safety.
  • Ensure customer-specific requirements are met, including satisfaction by tracking and driving “green” scorecards across all customers within the region.
  • Develop, review, and validate Process Flow, FMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and visual aids.
  • Support Operational Excellence (OpEX) team for deployment and compliance to standards through training and auditing.
  • Take an active role in problem solving using PPS, CSCC, and Yokoten methods.
  • Support and track PPAP timing for selected programs and/or changes.
  • Create, revise, and validate Safe Launch activities when necessary.
  • Prepare reports for various levels of management on a defined frequency (KPI reporting).
  • Drive value-add compliance by improving inspection methods or lab testing/inspections and reducing costs using data/technology.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in industry; bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in launch, manufacturing, and/or quality.
  • Certified in IATF and Core Tools.
  • Automotive experience, especially with GM, STLA, Ford, Hyundai/Kia, and BMW.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; Blackbelt/6Sigma or other certification is desired.
  • Working familiarity with automotive OEM quality systems, including TS-16949 requirements.
  • Proficient in reading prints/drawings and requirements, including links to specifications, and performing inspection/testing using basic equipment.
  • Strong data analysis, process validation (including statistics), and technical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and travel as needed.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive finger movement, twisting, or pressure involving wrists or hands.
  • Working in manufacturing, laboratory, and/or office environments.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs; pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of hands and legs for tasks requiring manual/muscular coordination.
  • Ability to travel by air and automobile, including extended or routine travel with a flexible work schedule driven by unforeseen events.
  • Clear speech, oral communication, and hearing for conversation.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals in an automotive components manufacturing environment.
