Advanced Practitioner Outpatient

About the Role

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the clinical management of patients in accordance with hospital, State, and National regulatory agency standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Certified Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program
• Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Certified Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner or Licensed Physician Assistant
• Valid contract with preceptors
• Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course, renewed yearly
• Outpatient experience preferred

• A high level of analytical ability required for assessing patients and implementing appropriate intervention
• Substantial interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with staff, physicians, patients, and family members
• Knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties
• Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of patients in assigned areas
• Performs initial history and physical as evidenced by appropriate documentation
• Writes standard orders in accordance with hospital policy, including orders related to pre-existing conditions
• Discusses with the attending physician and nursing staff physical and/or emotional findings that may interfere with patient care
• Evaluates patient progress on a continuing basis in collaboration with the attending physician and alters treatment modalities as needed
• Evaluates nursing, medical, social, and educational needs on assigned patients and initiates referrals to appropriate ancillary departments and community resources
• Writes progress notes for each visit documenting pertinent information regarding patient progress and treatment regime
• Establishes medical diagnoses in compliance with existing contract and refers problems requiring consultation to the physician or designee
• Makes immediate referral of acute and/or life-threatening patient conditions to physician or designee and documents findings and treatment plan
• Performs technical functions as covered by the job description, delegation agreement, and hospital policy, documenting results and monitoring patient response
• Acts as a clinical resource and participates in nursing and/or hospital performance improvement initiatives
• Participates actively in health teaching of patient and family, including preventative health care, current medical condition, and treatment regime
• Plans and reviews home care instructions with patient and family, including needs for community resources and hospital-based ancillary services
• Pursues educational advancement activities to meet identified needs and those required for continued certification, including attending mandatory in-service training

Pay

Pay Range: $82,774.65 – $137,823.94. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
