Responsibilities
- History taking, clinical assessment, physical examination
- Order entry, clinical documentation, interpretation of diagnostic studies
- Clinical diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care
- Perform credentialled procedure
- Evaluate signs and symptoms, assess complex acute, critical, and chronically ill-patient
- Develop and reformulate differential diagnoses, identify co-morbidities, use diagnostic strategies and technical skills
- Participate in daily team transition huddles
- Utilize evidence-based practice, prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities, implement treatment and referral orders, interpret and evaluate lab and diagnostic testing
- Maintain quality of care through consultation, collaboration, continuing education, certification, and evaluation
- Adapt teaching and learning approaches based on physiological and psychological changes, age, developmental stage, cognitive status, readiness to learn, health literacy, the environment, and available resources
- Identify processes, principles to meet quality core metrics and documentation standards and expectations
- Participate professionally and work collaboratively to engage in interdisciplinary peer and colleague review
- Advocate on behalf of the patient population and the profession through active participation in the health policy process
- Address the development and implementation of system policies affecting services
Requirements
- APRN: Master’s degree with an Advanced Practice Nursing Focus and National Board Certification required
- PA: Master’s degree required with the appropriate National Certification
- National Board Certification as a CNP, CNS, CNM, or CRNA and Acute Care Certification
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Qualifications
- Current Ohio Board of Nursing license for APRN
- Current Ohio License 50RX – License to practice as a physician assistant with prescriptive authority
- Maintain collaborative/supervision agreement as required through the Ohio Medial Board/Ohio Board of Nursing

- Ability to communicate and relate well with staff, provider(s), and the public
- Awareness of patient confidentiality and ability to follow directions well from physician and work autonomously with little direction
- Effective and efficient documentation of diagnoses, exam findings, and plan
- Positive interpersonal relationships and critical analysis skills
- Ability to multi-task and work under stress
- Maintain competencies and skills of specialty area of practice
- Demonstrates assessment skills, diagnosis with critical thinking and implementation of a plan of care
- Professional role includes clinical reasoning and building collaborative intra and interprofessional relationships to provide optimal care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic illness
- Skill of advocating on behalf of the patient population and the profession through active participation in the health policy process
- Managing and negotiating healthcare delivery systems - skill in addressing the development and implementation of system policies affecting services
