Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Transplant Surgery - Rotational

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The APP collaborates with a physician(s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care, focusing on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure.

This group manages all inpatient abdominal transplant patients, pre and post-operatively (liver, kidney, pancreas). This is a rotational position that includes nights and 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health care services to patients during acute and chronic phases of illness.
  • Deliver education and counseling to individuals and families.
  • Promote health and prevention.
  • Refer patients to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing OR graduate of a PA-C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination recognized by the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing (for APRN) or Master’s prepared (for PA-C).
  • 0 years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years of acute care APP experience preferred.
  • Acute Care NP preferred.
