About the role
Under supervision, and in collaboration with physician colleagues, assists with diagnosing and treating patients; performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide health care services, such as, operative procedures, suturing, and injections. Makes initial diagnosis and order appropriate tests and treatment. Assists in surgery where applicable; assists with facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient’s family. Coordinates care to ensure quality, effective care and patient safety.
Education and/or Experience
- Master of Science degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse license and certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance is required
- Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
- DEA and CDS eligible
- CPR and BLS required
- Demonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs
- Maintains updated mandatory training
- Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area
