About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for oncology and surgical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, obtain detailed medical histories, conduct physical examinations, participate in daily rounds, develop and implement treatment plans, and order appropriate medications, laboratory studies, diagnostic tests, therapeutic interventions, and supportive care services.
  • Evaluate patient conditions, communicate clinical changes to the supervising physician, and serve as a key liaison between patients, families, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and comprehensive clinical documentation, including history and physical examinations (H&Ps), consult notes, progress notes, and follow-up documentation.
  • Conduct patient evaluations, participate in consultative services, provide patient and family education, and obtain informed consent as appropriate.
  • Care for patients across the continuum, enhance communication, patient flow, and collaboration among physicians, nursing staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain all required professional licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, professional development initiatives, and departmental meetings to support team and organizational goals.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervising physician or department leadership.

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license required, Current Georgia Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license required, National Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, (If not issued by the American Heart Association, AHA certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire), Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, (If not issued by the American Heart Association, AHA certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Physician Assistant (PA): Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or equivalent program meeting NCCPA eligibility requirements, Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required, Current Georgia Physician Assistant license required, Maintains all required Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours and professional certifications as required by applicable regulatory and certifying organizations, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, (If not issued by the American Heart Association, AHA certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire), Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, (If not issued by the American Heart Association, AHA certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Preferred Qualifications: Prior oncology and/or infusion experience preferred, ONS certification preferred, Experience working in a multidisciplinary oncology or surgical practice setting preferred.
