About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a passion for pediatric emergency medicine to join our dynamic team. This position offers the challenge of independent patient management within a collaborative, team-based care model, allowing you to practice at the top of your license in a leading pediatric hospital Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate/implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic measures appropriate for the patient population.
  • Collaborate, refer, and consult with Emergency Department attending physicians, pediatric specialists, and other health care team members to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide direct care across multiple settings, including ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings.
  • Direct or participate in case management and continuing care planning.
  • Contribute to organizational and departmental Continuous Performance and Quality Improvement (CPQI) projects, and participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

Schedule Requirements

  • Primarily night coverage.
  • Rotating schedule which includes weekends and holidays.
  • Range of 0.6 to 0.9 FTE, based on candidate interest and program needs.

Required Education And Experience

  • Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program or graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
  • One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

Required Credentials

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
  • Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.

For Physician Assistants:

  • Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
  • Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

For All Providers:

  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
  • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Preferred

  • Two years experience in advanced practice provider role.
  • Two years experience in pediatric health care.

Compensation Range

$127,908.37 – $209,019.62 per year. Off shift premium: 15% which would increase the total compensation for this role by an additional $19,186.26 to $31,352.94 per year.

Relocation: Support available for qualified candidates.

Note: Compensation will be pro-rated based on final FTE.
