About the role
The Advanced Practice Providers at Allegheny Health Network are integral members of the care delivery system, focusing on providing a healing environment by prioritizing the needs of our customers. The APP role involves providing primary or acute healthcare services for acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations, adhering to applicable scope and standards of practice, and aligning with the organization's policies, values, and mission.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete, detailed, and accurate histories, review patient records, and conduct physical examinations.
- Order laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies as needed.
- Interpret and evaluate patient data to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans.
- Document medical diagnoses and therapeutic interventions accurately and timely.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding medical care matters.
- Record pertinent information in the electronic medical record (EMR) and communicate with the attending physician.
- Participate in hospital rounds and document patient progress notes.
- Institute emergency measures and stabilize acute patients as necessary.
- Inform the attending physician of significant changes in the patient's condition promptly.
- Maintain professional continuing education and participate in medical education.
- Engage in patient safety, quality improvement, and patient engagement activities.
- Maintain compliance with medical staff office policies and practices.
- Practice consistently with the organization's mission statements and specialty-specific procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program or a Master’s or Post-Master’s program approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing.
- Hold a current Pennsylvania Physician Assistant License or a current Pennsylvania CRNP license and RN license.
- For CRNPs, obtain the Pennsylvania Prescriptive Authority license within 60 days of hire.
- Pass National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the AANP or ANCC.
- Hold a current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Pass relevant criminal background clearances, including Act 34, Act 33, Act 73, and FBI fingerprinting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Up to 3 years of department-specific experience.
- Hold ACLS certification.
- Hold DEA license.
