Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / (PA/NP), Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive, Instructor
About the role
The Department of Surgery – Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for the plastic and reconstructive surgery clinic at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) in Aurora, Colorado. This position will provide outpatient clinical services for new, follow-up, preoperative and postoperative patients. The qualified candidate will be appointed to the rank of Instructor within the Department.
Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the PRS surgeons to provide outpatient care at the Anschutz Medical Campus.
- The outpatient scope of duties includes seeing new patients, follow-up patients, preoperative and postoperative patients. This includes performing patient interviews, conducting physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating diagnoses and management plans, providing patient education, obtaining surgical consents and prescribing medications.
- Perform minor procedures in clinic, including but not limited to, tissue expander fills, drain removals, suture removals, benign lesion excisions, scar revisions, intralesional injections, and nipple-areolar tattooing.
- Communicate regularly with attending surgeons, resident physicians, other APPs, and other members of the medical care team.
- Assist in the education of nurses and medical assistants in the field of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
- Provide administrative support and thorough follow-up to ensure orderly, effective, and superior patient care. This may include the development and implementation of educational materials or protocols for staff and patients.
- Attend division faculty meetings, Department of Surgery faculty meetings, and applicable clinic and hospital meetings.
- Participate in academic initiatives such as quality and safety improvement projects.
- Become proficient in the electronic medical record system (EPIC) and be able to chart, obtain data and use all the communication tools.
- Work Location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
Qualifications
- NP: Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) Ability to obtain prescriptive authority (DEA License)
- PA: Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant) Ability to obtain prescriptive authority (DEA License)

Anticipated Pay Range
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $111,010 to $136,947
