About the role
The West Virginia University Health System, comprising 18 hospitals and five institutes, is the state's largest health system and largest private employer. The role involves managing comprehensive and individualized care for surgical urology patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Completes comprehensive patient health evaluations and collaborates with the clinical/faculty team.
- Affords assessments, coordinates educational and psychosocial needs, and develops a plan of care.
- Participates in peri-operative management, directs care, and coordinates discharge planning and post-hospital follow-up.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice.
- Collaborates with residents and medical/nursing students, and educates patients and families.
- Facilitates patient discharge and postoperative care by coordinating appropriate services and tests.
- Assists in the collection of outcome measures and promotes an environment that facilitates learning.
- Communicates effectively with patients/families, physicians, and ancillary services to ensure coordinated care.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Master’s level degree as Physician Assistant.
- National Certification by a recognized APRN Certification Center or Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant training program.
- Licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
- BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in surgical and/or urology preferred.
