Responsibilities
- Provides healthcare services, under the supervision of a physician.
- Cares for patients by conducting complete physicals, providing treatment, and counseling patients.
- May prescribe medicine.
- Maintains an effective professional relationship with patients, families, co-workers, medical staff, and administration.

Requirements
- Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
- Basic Life Support Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department.
- Acute care, surgical, critical care, or trauma experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray and POC lab tests.
- Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
- Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
- Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.
- Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available.
- Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with the medical assistant(s) as needed during the care and treatment of patients.
- Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.
- Communicates with staff, medical staff and administration in support of operations.
