Advanced Practice Nurse (Certified Nurse Anesthetist) Intermittent

About the role

The APN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides anesthetic care to patients under their scope of practice, including pre-anesthesia evaluation, peri-operative anesthetic administration, and post-operative management. Practice settings include acute medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient care within Surgical Care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct anesthetic care, including assessing monitors, administering IV sedation, and conducting anesthesia or general anesthesia for patients.
• Perform pre-operative evaluations for surgical patients.
• Participate in a team approach to ensure appropriate patient assessments, anticipate patient care needs, prevent avoidable complications, and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Adhere to nursing care in accordance with ethical principles and function within the scope of practice.
• Maintain BLS and ACLS training and perform activities reflecting educational, experiential, and competency requirements in areas such as nursing practice, quality of care, performance, educational/career development, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research, and resource utilization.
• Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information.
• Demonstrate adherence to infection control standards, safe use and operation of equipment, and safety practices.
• Conform with all medical center and service/safety policies, procedures, and protocols to avoid injury and/or illnesses to self or others.
• Prepare all reports and documentation pertaining to injuries within established time frames utilizing the ASISTS Program.

Requirements

• One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.

Schedule

• Intermittent work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
• Hours based on the needs of the service, not to exceed 1,820 hours per year.
