Advanced Practice Clinician, Cardiology

Park Nicollet Clinic is looking for an exceptional, patient-focused Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiology APP team and make a difference for our patients and community.

About the role

The Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing both inpatient and outpatient services. In the inpatient setting, the APP works as a team with the attending cardiologist to perform and staff initial consults, subsequent follow-up visits, and coordinate patient care. In the outpatient setting, the APP will see patients independently in the cardiology clinic. Outreach clinic may also be expected. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care in consultation with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain high standards of care and service in accordance with NCCPA and PNHS guidelines.
• Support the improvement of existing processes and outcomes, including patient health outcomes, satisfaction, and confidentiality.
• Model behavior and commitment aligned with group practice and Park Nicollet Health Services values.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure appropriate service and patient safety.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• If a Physician Assistant:
  • Current registration to practice as a Physician Assistant in Minnesota.
  • Current national certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Approved by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice for prescription writing privileges (verified during credentialing process).
• If a Nurse Practitioner:
  • Currently licensed as an APRN by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as an RN by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • AANP certification.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and DEA certification (verified during credentialing process).
• Board certified through the NCCPA (for Physician Assistants).
• Must maintain state licensure and DEA certificate.
• CPR certification.
• Maintain national certification by logging 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and sit for recertification every six years.
• Credentialing following the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.

Skills

• Proven proficiency in operating medical equipment such as defibrillator/AED, health testing devices, telephone, syringes, dressing application tools, thermometer, scale, photocopier, and FAX machine.
• Strong clinical, human relations, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively problem-solve and make sound decisions.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8-hour or 10-hour shifts for a total of 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends.
