About the role
The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory seeks postdoctoral researchers to conduct advanced optical beam control research using metasurfaces. Candidates should have experience with numerical modeling using tools like COMSOL, Ansys Lumerical, and cleanroom micro/nanoscale device fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on advanced optical imaging and infrared beam shaping/structuring technologies using metasurfaces.
- Collaborate with ARL advisors and other researchers to develop innovative solutions in photonics, electronics, and quantum sciences.
- Write and submit a research proposal to the ARL-RAP review panel.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in relevant field (Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, etc.)
- Experience with numerical modeling and cleanroom fabrication techniques
- Strong academic background and publication record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Expertise in materials and devices for photonic, electronic, and quantum-based effects
- Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools and cleanroom fabrication processes
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
