About the role
Beitzel Corporation is seeking experienced Advanced Heavy Equipment Operators to support an exciting, large-scale civil project scheduled from May through November in the Fayetteville, WV area. This is a fixed-term, project-based opportunity ideal for skilled operators looking to contribute to a defined, high-impact project.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate industry-specific heavy equipment such as dozers and excavators to meet project specifications, achieve planned grades, etc.
- Effectively achieve fine grade with and without GPS technology
- Cook with and without GPS technology
- Coordinate with project management to load the correct grade control files into pieces of equipment when required
- Read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications
- Lead and aid other field personnel with general labor and the operation of general excavation equipment to include haul trucks, skid steers, compactors, etc.
- Lead and perform daily equipment inspections and assist with general equipment maintenance and minor repairs as required
- Provide daily documentation to include job safety analysis, quality inspections, production reports, worksite status updates, fuel logs, equipment inspections, etc.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a professional and workman-like manner
- Lead and assist with site staging to include unloading trucks and equipment when required
Requirements
- 5+ years of civil or excavation experience preferred
- Mastery level experience in both a dozer and excavator required
- Ability to safely and effectively operate a wide variety of excavation equipment
- Ability to configure and utilize GPS technology in excavation equipment and ability to achieve fine grade with or without GPS technology
- Experience with general equipment maintenance and machine care
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
Qualifications
- Must be able to kneel, stoop, twist, bend, squat, and climb
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work at heights or in confined spaces
- Works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
- Regularly walks; uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reaches with hands and arms
- Must be able to work on-site to include walking for extended periods of time on uneven terrain
