Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology
About the role
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-certified/board-eligible, Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist for their Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team in the Greater Austin Region.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultation service.
- Predominantly inpatient service responsibilities related to the LVAD/HTx program, including inpatient rounding, VAD/HTx clinic, ECHO for VAD/HTx, and invasive procedures (right heart catheterization, implantable pulmonary artery monitors).
- Perform cath lab procedures and read ECHO for VAD and Heart Transplant.
- Support interdisciplinary programs as part of an integrated-based approach.
- Expand advanced heart failure services for BSWH in the Greater Austin Region.
- Teach ACGME Cardiology Fellows.
Requirements
- Must be UNOS qualified for the care of patients with cardiac transplants.
- Experience with remote monitoring, disease-specific approaches like amyloidosis and sarcoidosis, and heart transplant/ventricular assist devices.
- Experience with temporary MCS and involvement in interdisciplinary programs.
- Experience with structural, surgical, and multimodality imaging team members.
- Experience with interdisciplinary programs as part of an integrated-based approach.
Qualifications
- Doctorate Degree in Medicine.
- Licensed to Practice Medicine in the state of Texas by the Texas Medical Board.
- Five years of relevant experience preferred.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong clinical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in education and research is encouraged, but not essential.

Schedule
Expected call 1:4 in Round Rock location (Recovery program), and 6 weeks a year in Temple location (VAD/HTx program).
