About the role
Under the supervision of the Manager of Advanced Clinical Training, the Mentor conducts and communicates performance updates and assists with supplemental guidance and instruction. This is a secondary role and does not replace or substitute primary tech duties. See the “Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Technologist” job description for full details.
Responsibilities
Training, Engagement and People
- Develop, train, and positively encourage IOM Technologists as they advance their skills in IOM.
- Facilitate teaching of medical knowledge, IOM theory, and physical skills under the guidance of the ACT Manager.
- Provide IOM Technologists with the resources needed to become highly trained Advanced IOM Technologists.
- Develop relationships with techs and clinical leaders to facilitate open communication and progress transparency.
- Partner with Territory Managers and the ACT Manager to develop strategic goals and expand Advanced Clinical Training initiatives.
- Contribute to the Program by aiding in the development of MPOWERHealth University content, education strategies, and educational event logistics when not training.
Case Coverage
- Case coverage will be a top priority dependent on territory and staffing needs.
- Travel for case training and coverage will be an essential function of this role.
OR Relations
- Focus on developing strong, productive relationships with physicians, hospital staff, and administration.
- Engage with surgeons and staff to obtain feedback on the progress of IOM Technologists and note improvements in workflow to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- CNIM required.
- Required modality experience includes ABR and EEG.
- Experience with cranial nerve 5, 7, and 12 EMG monitoring is preferred.
- Previous experience training individuals, either MCA or advanced cases, is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years IONM experience is required.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher (e.g., Masters, PhD, MD).
- Current AHA CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
