Advanced Care Paramedic

Duties of Position

• Provide medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals.
• Respond to approximately 130,000 calls per year and transport patients to hospital by ambulance.
• Work as a member of the team and maintain a good attendance record.
• Ensure confidentiality and prioritize patient safety.
• Operate within the scope of the National Occupational Competency Profile for Advanced Care Paramedics and Ambulance NB policies, procedures, and protocols.

Requirements

• Entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or work permit).
• High regard for confidentiality and patient safety.
• Advanced Care Paramedic program/course completed over six months.
• Registered, active Advanced Care Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to others during departmental orientation.
• Valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
• Willingness to participate in future pilot projects, research initiatives, and community Paramedicine duties.
• Written and spoken competency in one of the two official languages (English or French), with spoken competency in the other preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Resume and Cover Letter.
• A copy of your Advanced Care Paramedic diploma from an accredited institution.
• Proof of current registration with Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) specific to working as a paramedic within the last 12 months.
• Proof of valid CPR level C certification issued in the last 12 months.
• Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver’s license (or equivalent) with minimum one year driving experience.
• Driver's abstract; issued within the last 30 days.
• Copy of any valid Driver’s course certificate i.e. CEVO, VFIS or NS VSP or equivalent issued within the last three years.
• Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check; issued within the last 30 days.
• Immunization Record (Tetanus Tdap) within the last 10 years, 2 MMR vaccines (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) or lab evidenced immunity, 2 Varicella vaccines (Chicken Pox) or lab evidenced immunity, 3 Hepatitis B doses and Lab evidenced immunity, TB Skin Test (2 step) and a 1-step in the last 12 months; if reactive a follow up chest xray).
• Valid Official Language Assessments (oral assessment only) in both French and English from the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labour.
• Additional training and/or education is highly valued.
