About the role
The Health Economics Team (HET) is seeking an Advanced Analytics Consultant to support and enhance client-facing engagements with HCSC’s largest Commercial customers. The role involves analytic support and consultancy for these clients and advisory for internal senior-leader stakeholders related to population health and insurance.
Responsibilities
- Leverage strong technical skills (SQL, R, Python, and Tableau/PowerBI) and healthcare industry knowledge (payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc.) to support and enhance client-facing engagements.
- Communicate with and present to C-Suite stakeholders to elevate their understanding of plan cost and health drivers.
- Collaborate internally to address business problems and collaborate with management to scale impactful client engagements.
- Design and maintain standard data layers, develop coding standards and documentation for organizational use cases, and troubleshoot analytic development challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, insurance industry economics or related field OR Master’s degree in related field with 3 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR 9 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field.
- Understanding of and highly proficient at querying a wide variety of healthcare data and related population data (medical/pharmacy claims, behavioral health claims, health care management (HCM) records, electronic medical records (EMR), provider databases (AMA, NPI, DEA, etc.), member/patient demographic data, and publicly available databases (U.S. Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, NIH, etc.).
- Performance excellence in computer languages, such as SQL, R, Python.
- Ability to create a dynamic and visually engaging dashboard leveraging data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- A high degree of business intelligence and understanding how to take a business case from inception to customer or partner execution.
- Experience leading an analytic initiative to success.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Performance excellence in championing initiatives and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to bring the initiative to life.
Qualifications
- Masters and 3 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics including 1 year experience in analyzing medical claims data.
- Experience with Databricks.
- Experience with project management methodologies.
- Experience of Healthcare industry - payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc.
- Experience with version control/collaborative tools.

Pay
$70,600.00 - $149,600.00 exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location
Schedule
This role is a hybrid role that can be located in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX. Relocation will not be offered; sponsorship is not available including if you are on OPT.
