About the role

The employee in this position will provide Career and Technical Education to prisoners in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing. This program will provide students with the skills to obtain gainful employment after incarceration.

Responsibilities

  • Guides students through available curriculum resources designed for achievement of the National Institute for Metal Working (NIMS) and FANUC robotics certification.
  • Develops supplemental teaching materials as needed to promote learning.
  • Coordinates all student assessments / progress activities, and credential testing.
  • Stays current regarding innovations in functional technologies to help prepare students to appropriately enter the workforce.

Requirements

  • Education: Possession of an associate's degree in an area of the specific trade or occupation to be taught.
  • Alternate Education and Experience: Possession of an appropriate bachelor's degree, master's degree, or vocational teacher certification may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
  • Additional Requirements and Information: Some jobs require state certifications for the occupation. All positions are assigned subclass codes. Individuals appointed to positions that are subclass coded must possess the required specialized experience, training, or license.

Position Description

The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
