Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to promote and teach advanced manufacturing technologies to students enrolled in technical programs at PCC. This position is responsible for advising students and managing the Associates Program for Industrial Systems Technology as well as supporting course instruction for PCC's Mechatronics Program.
Essential Duties
- Manages student progress in the classroom during lectures as well as hands-on activities.
- Manages student Work-Based Learning assignment.
- Prepares syllabi and instructional material for all courses under this area of instruction.
- Conducts classroom activities and on-line synchronous activities to support instruction.
- Installs and develops hands-on lab equipment for student participation and knowledge demonstration.
- Reviews programs and provides recommendations for improvement.
- Inspects lab equipment for safety and functionality in the classroom.
- Inspects student projects for potential problems and improvements as to meet industry standards.
Additional Duties
- Promotes any activities deemed necessary for PCC, for example tour presentations and press opportunities as well as student retention and recruiting efforts.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise, instruct, or train others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice or make recommendations based on technical expertise; may have first-level supervisory duties including administration of performance feedback; or coordinate work activity schedules for teams.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals and the proper use of tools and machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical fundamental theory and proper industry installation.
- Knowledge of electronic fundamentals and current applications.
- Knowledge and experience in residential and industry settings.
- Knowledge of PCC policies at they pertain to students, safety, and employees.
- Knowledge and skill navigating current instructional software for on-line instruction, attendance, and grading.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, excel, Word, Power Point, Zoom software.
- Skilled in effective communication with staff and students.
Typical Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience - Technical degree applicable to industry electrical/mechanical fundamentals (AAS or BS). Seven (7) years of experience in industry (or combination of class and field).
- Licenses and Certificates - Valid State Driver's License. Trade certifications, as applicable, for electrical, mechanical, journeymen etc. preferred. Teaching credentials such as Mechatronics Instructor Certifications, etc. preferred.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to indoor environment, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, classroom setting, sharp objects/tools.
Health and Safety Standards
