About the Role
UC San Diego Health is launching a new general adult genetics program and invites applications from physicians or physician–scientists passionate about adult genetic medicine. We seek candidates interested in caring for adults with genetic conditions, collaborating across primary care and specialty clinics, and working closely with highly skilled, independently practicing genetic counselors. The ideal candidate will help shape and grow this new program with a forward-thinking approach and a clear vision for how adult genetics can best serve the diverse population of San Diego County.
Responsibilities
- Providing outpatient adult genetics care with some inpatient consultations
- Leading and participating in multidisciplinary clinical settings
- Working directly with a dedicated genetic counselor in the adult genetics clinic
- Clinical oversight for oncology and prenatal genetic counselors
- Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Requirements
- Must have an MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in health-related fields
- Must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California
- Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Genetics
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and immunization screening
- If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates trained via the Internal Medicine pathway or with extensive training and experience with general adult genetics
- Candidates with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with adult patients (candidates with less experience will be considered)
- Candidates with experience innovating, developing, or launching clinical programs
Pay
Hiring Pay Scale: $367,132 / Year (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
