About the Role

Instructs adult learners in basic education, ESOL courses, and theory classes using instructional methods geared toward adults.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Adult Basic Education and ESOL using instructional methods tailored to adult learners in a classroom setting.
  • Plan and prepare curriculum and class lessons; implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, including group or individual instruction and computer programs.
  • Administer tests to determine individual student progress and maintain accurate student attendance records.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Remain current with essential program-related information and maintain robust, accurate student records.
  • Build a classroom environment conducive to learning while maintaining effective classroom management.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established curriculum goals; communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Act as a mentor to ensure student success.
  • Perform related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate content area experience in instruction.
  • Teaching Certificate.

Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fall Semester: September 9, 2026 - December 17, 2026

Spring Semester: January 11, 2027 - April 15, 2027, May 3, 2027 - June 17, 2027

No Class Dates: October 12, 2026; November 11, 2026; November 25-26, 2026; December 21, 2026 - January 7, 2027; May 31, 2027

Winter Break: February 15-18, 2027

Spring Break: April 19-22, 2027

Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

This position requires the employee to work in an office or similar indoor environment.
