Adult Basic Education Tutor

About the role

This is a part-time position, working Monday - Thursday 8:00 – 10:30 AM. with occasional afternoon hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Help teach academic subjects such as: English, Mathematics, Science, and History to adult age students.
  • Meet regularly with students who need help academically and help the students improve their: study skills, organizational skills, test taking skills, note taking skills and time management skills.
  • Teach in a classroom setting, study room, library, online or a hybrid setting.
  • The ultimate goal of the tutor is to help improve the students' academic success and help them reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Education or equivalent.
  • Strong passion for helping others.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Prints IVP Level 1 fingerprint card - Must be obtained prior to start date.
  • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience tutoring/mentoring adults who are academically challenged and/or at-risk learners.
  • Foster and/or HSE/GED background.
