About the role

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Adoptions Specialist to join our team at our Sunnyslope Campus. This role focuses on matching shelter pets with potential adopters and providing a positive experience throughout the adoption process.

Schedule

Thursday through Monday, 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Create online pet profiles to generate interest in shelter pets
  • Greet potential adopters and escort them through kennels
  • Assist in the matchmaking adoption process to ensure a positive experience
  • Assess the needs of potential adopters and match them with pets suited to their lifestyle and preferences
  • Educate adopters on their chosen pet’s known history, including medical and behavioral insights
  • Recommend supplies in the retail store to help adopters prepare for their new pet

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months to one year of prior work experience
  • Experience in customer service or animal welfare environment preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Above-average clerical skills with the ability to complete paperwork accurately
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate safe and humane animal handling in all conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to dust, heat, cold, temperature changes, occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors, and dander
