About the role

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Adoption Preservation Support Counselor to provide therapeutic services to adopted children and their families. The position is available Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment of client's therapeutic needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plan engaging children, families, and Child Welfare Specialists.
  • Engage in the process considering the child/family's involvement in the child welfare system, safety and risk concerns, and permanency/treatment plan.
  • Provide direct counseling and therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups as needed.
  • Complete and submit all reports, documentation, and billing accurately and timely.
  • Participate in the supervisory process for guidance, direction, support, and approval of decision-making, assessment, treatment planning, and intervention.
  • Provide DSM 5/ICD-10 diagnoses for assigned clients.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Show professional, positive behavior and treat clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations in a dignified, respectful, honest, and fair manner.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work from a CSWE-accredited program or a related field.
  • Criminal background check clearance required.
  • Licensed as a LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or LSW.
  • Three (3) or more years of post-graduate experience working as a therapist preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of DSM 5/ICD-10 and their applications, under supervision of a licensed clinician.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to others and influence people.
  • Excellent organization, presentation, and computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
  • Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required.

Qualifications

Pay

$30.97 - $36.98 hourly.

Schedule

Monday through Friday.
