ADON/Assistant Director of Nursing

About the role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who will be responsible for supporting and carrying out the administration and management of Nursing Services to residents in accordance with physicians’ orders and the total needs of the residents. In partnership with the Director of Nursing, the RN provides 24‑hour supervision of Nursing Services, directs the Nursing Department to maintain quality standards of care, and assumes responsibility for clinical operations in the Director’s absence. The position conducts the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—under the State’s Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plans for the total care of each resident, ensuring compliance with physician orders, governmental regulations, and facility policies.
• Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitor staff practices and implementation.
• Participate in all admissions decisions and visit prospective residents before admission as needed.
• Participate in daily and weekly management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel issues, and resident complaints or concerns.
• Ensure delivery of compassionate, quality care and nursing supervision, demonstrated by adequate services and staff coverage, cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and maintenance of optimal resident functions.
• Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned, with or without notice.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Five years of experience in long‑term or acute health care (preferred).
• At least two years of nursing supervisory experience (required).
