ADON Assistant Director of Nursing

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in leading clinical operations and ensuring exceptional resident care. This role provides hands-on leadership, staff support, and oversight to maintain quality, compliance, and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (in good standing)
• 2-3+ years of long-term care experience
• 1 year of nurse supervising/leadership expereience
• Infection Prevention (IP) certification required
• Strong knowledge of CMS/regulatory standards
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• EMR proficiency and current CPR/BLS certification

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily clinical operations alongside the DON
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs)
• Aid with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
• Ensure high-quality resident care and accurate care planning
• Conduct rounds and respond to changes in resident condition
• Maintain compliance with all federal/state regulations
• Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and survey readiness
• Promote strong communication with staff, residents, and families
