ADON Assistant Director of Nursing

Essential Functions

• Aids the Director of Nursing in planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding the Nursing Department.
• Develops, implements, and updates department policies and procedures as necessary or as directed.
• Schedules staff to meet the needs of residents and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in annual surveys conducted by federal, state, and local agencies, and assists with implementing corrective actions.
• Conducts annual performance reviews of subordinate staff and provides guidance and education on their performance.
• Provides counseling and disciplinary action to staff members as needed.
• Trains and educates staff members on established infection control and standard precaution practices.
• Reports hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and supply issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents and interacts with them in a respectful manner.
• Responds promptly and courteously to call lights in resident care areas.
• Communicates and interacts effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.

Supervisory Responsibility

• Directly supervises all nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate's degree in science, nursing, or related field.
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
• Current state license as a registered nurse.
• CPR certified.
• Two years of RN experience.

Prior Experience

• Previous experience managing a nursing department is preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Five years of RN experience.
