Position Summary

Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the clinic. Performs general clerical and reception duties. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and/or third-party coverage. Schedules, confirms, and cancels patient appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Work variable shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights
  • Use office equipment such as printers, copiers, faxes, scanners
  • Use multi-line telephone system
  • Use a computer, including data entry and retrieval
  • Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Read, write, and speak English effectively

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with insurance programs and/or government programs
  • Experience working with TDS, Signature, IDX
  • Experience working in registration, scheduling, and/or authorization process
  • Experience working in a hospital or medical office setting
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs
  • Experience working with TDS, Signature, IDX
  • Experience working in registration, scheduling, and/or authorization process
  • Experience working in a hospital or medical office setting
