Admissions Specialist I

About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. This position is based in Bethel.

Responsibilities

• Perform registration, admission and scheduling functions for all inpatient and outpatient services provided by YKHC.
• Collect, update, and input patient demographics, history and insurance information into appropriate computer repository.
• Maintain or establish patient eligibility and primary provider on all patient encounters.
• Ensure appointment times are timely, communicate with clinics regarding patient appointment and registration status.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer literacy required.
• One year office experience.
• One year in customer service position.
• One year IBM or compatible computer system experience.
• Basic knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Type 40 words per minute and have 10-key experience.
• Has worked with Medicaid or commercial insurance preferably.
• Held job for minimum of one year continuously.
• Yup'ik speaker preferred.

Pay

$21.78 per hour.

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week.
