About the role

Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater is a 144-bed psychiatric hospital specializing in acute psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adults 18 and older. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides primary care coordination and implements collaborative care plans prescribed by physicians and treatment teams. Full-time position with various 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, including mental health needs
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care
  • Administer and/or monitor effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician
  • Ensure safety and provide consistent therapeutic milieu management and crisis intervention strategies

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
  • BLS certification
  • CPR certification
  • Successful completion of restraining procedures training within 30 days of employment
  • Understanding of The Joint Commission (TJC), AHCA, OSHA and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Move efficiently to meet the needs of several patients and/or move rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression
  • Able to stand, sit and walk during work shift
  • Able to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range, respond to signals, alarms, codes or other displays, and recognize vocal intonation that signals changes in acuity
  • Able to bend, reach and stoop
  • Write legibly to accurately convey information
  • Read instructions and complete documentation and reports
  • Restrain, as part of a team, an aggressive patient in a safe and therapeutic manner
  • Able to lift, position or move patients to perform (or assist in) searches and procedures, and/or administer injections
  • Perform activities requiring manual dexterity
  • Able to lift 30 lbs
