Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174-bed, private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL, providing 24-hour emergency services. The hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and ECT services for adults. Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of the intake and admission process, including handling inquiry calls and communicating with referral sources.
- Provide hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals.
- Make outside referrals when appropriate and assess/triage an individual’s mental health status.
- Make patient safety and level-of-care recommendations to the CFBH physician.
- Identify insurance benefits and pre-certify patient care.
- Complete all admission requirements and communicate patient safety concerns to unit nursing staff.
- Document necessary information in Med Series 4.
- Request clinical information on potential patients.
- Initiate verification of insurance coverage to determine viability for individuals seeking admission.
- Coordinate admissions with unit staff and physicians.
- Follow EMTALA regulations and identify high-risk individuals presenting for emergency care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Six (6) months of experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
- Current CPR Certification (can be obtained upon hire).
- Knowledge of current nursing procedures.
- Must be available to attend full hospital and departmental orientations:
- Week 1: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
- Week 2: Monday & Tuesday, 9 AM–5 PM
