About the role

Hebrew Union College is seeking a dynamic and relationship-oriented professional to serve in a dual part-time role as Admissions Recruiter (Los Angeles) and Jewish Ideas Fellowship Director.

Responsibilities

  • Admissions Recruitment
    • Meet regularly with prospective students to provide guidance throughout the discernment and admissions process.
    • Conduct outreach to prospective applicants through alumni, current students, and community partners.
    • Coach prospective students as they explore graduate education, rabbinical school, and vocational discernment.
    • Respond to questions regarding HUC academic programs, admissions requirements, and institutional policies.
    • Maintain detailed records of applicant interactions using ActiveCampaign and other recruitment systems.
    • Connect prospective students with HUC classes, programming, and educational opportunities to strengthen their preparation for graduate study.
    • Refer applicants to the Hebrew Learning Support Coordinator, when appropriate, to develop individualized Hebrew learning plans.
    • Connect prospective students with trained alumni mentors who can provide guidance throughout the discernment process.
  • Jewish Ideas Fellowship
    • Recruit, engage, and support fellowship participants throughout the program.
    • Develop relationships with alumni, educators, mentors, and partner organizations to strengthen fellowship programming.
    • Coordinate fellowship communications, marketing, website content, and social media in partnership with the Office of Recruitment and Admissions.
    • Collect, analyze, and report participant demographics, engagement, and program outcomes.
    • Train alumni and partner organizations to support recruitment efforts and leadership development.
    • Mentor fellowship participants as they deepen their Jewish identities and explore their roles as future Jewish leaders.
  • Collaboration & Team Participation
    • Participate in regular Office of Recruitment and Admissions team meetings.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate admissions activities, marketing initiatives, recruitment travel, and program communications.

Requirements

  • Education: One of the following is required:
    • Ordination (Rabbinical or Cantorial) from an accredited Jewish seminary;
    • Master's degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Nonprofit Management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience serving as a Jewish professional within the North American Jewish community.
    • Experience leading groups, fellowships, educational programs, or leadership development initiatives.
    • Experience recruiting, mentoring, coaching, or advising students or emerging leaders preferred.

Compensation

Part-Time, Non-Exempt
20 hours per week (average)
$55.00–$60.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Employment term: August 15, 2026 - June 30, 2027
Hours worked must be accurately recorded each week in HUC's payroll system.
