About the role

The Admissions Counselor plays a crucial role in fostering a vibrant learning community at WPU. They will lead by example, develop others' leadership capabilities, and actively demonstrate the Quaker virtues of simplicity, peace-making, integrity, community, and equality.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate the opportunities offered by the institution to students through face-to-face contact, phone calls, and electronic exchanges.
  • Guide students and their families through the admissions process.
  • Support university processes to achieve educational and economic goals.
  • Manage and evaluate assigned recruitment areas.
  • Represent the University at college fairs statewide.
  • Visit high schools and serve as a liaison with guidance counselors.
  • Interpret departmental and/or college policies and procedures.
  • Work harmoniously with others, including evening and weekend commitments, and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: Admissions experience not required; personal experience as a WPU student is preferred.
  • Abilities: Enthusiasm for working with students and their families; ability to facilitate, manage, and evaluate assigned recruitment area; working knowledge of computer software programs; ability to learn and retain a wide range of institutional information; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion; ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to work with diverse populations; proficiency with office machines; valid driver’s license.
