Admissions Assistant
Department: Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University
Location: Arlington, VA (on-site)
Work schedule: 18–25 hours per week, Monday–Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (priority given to candidates who can work Fridays 9:00 am–4:00 pm)
Hourly rate: up to $24.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience

About the Role
The Admissions Assistant provides administrative and front-office support to the JD Admissions Office during a period of staffing transition. This is a temporary, part-time position that may be extended based on departmental needs and funding.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for the JD Admissions Office by greeting and assisting prospective students, admitted students, applicants, and visitors
- Answer and direct Admissions Office phone calls; respond to or route general inquiries
- Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment Management, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, preparing materials, and assisting with other administrative needs
- Assist with purchasing and financial administration (purchase orders, reimbursements, vouchers, invoices, supply orders)
- Provide administrative and logistical support for prospective and admitted student recruitment events
- Administer the Student Ambassador program (scheduling, communications, timekeeping, coordination)
- Schedule and coordinate prospective student tours, group visits, appointments, and other visitor-facing activities
- Handle Admissions Office communications, correspondence, mailings, and routine follow-up
- Enter and maintain information in admissions databases, spreadsheets, and office records
- Prepare materials, reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence as needed
- Assist with general office organization and daily administrative operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the JD Admissions Office
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in a customer-facing, administrative, or office support role
- Professional demeanor and ability to serve as a first point of contact for students, applicants, and visitors
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in higher education, particularly in admissions or student services
- Experience providing administrative support to a manager or senior-level professional
- Experience with purchasing, reimbursements, invoices, or related administrative processes
- Familiarity with student information systems or admissions databases (e.g., Unite)
- Experience supporting events or front-office operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in handling inquiries
