About the role
This role provides strong office support for the School of Musical Theatre in the following areas: Recruitment and Admissions, Marketing and Publicity, and Student Services.
Responsibilities
- Primary support for prospective students and incoming freshmen.
- Promote the excellence of the School of Musical Theatre and OU to prospective and current students, and to the university community, local and national audiences, and industry stakeholders through marketing and social media campaigns, as well as on-campus events.
- The Director and MT Faculty attend regional and national auditions for the School and participate in workshops and guest-teaching sessions.
- Conduct year-round information meetings with visiting families and prospective students.
- Cook up year-round information meetings with visiting families and prospective students.
- With the Director, coordinate, host, and curate on-campus program auditions.
- Create student schedules and information sharing – both on-campus and nationally.
- With the Director, coordinate all national auditions for the program, recruitment scheduling, travel arrangements and payments, admitted student days, and serve as the point-of-contact to various recruitment partners.
- Offer summer communication and support to the incoming freshmen class and families regarding the OU enrollment deadlines, Fine Arts requirements, and admissions checklist.
- Serve as a liaison to the OU Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR) for prospective students and incoming freshmen.
- Collaborate with OAR efforts in marketing and recruitment.
- Cook up “Admitted Student Days” and individual itineraries for admitted students visiting campus.
- Manage recruiting budget, reconcile travel receipts for faculty, and create an annual expense report.
- Use a variety of OU data management systems as they relate to Admissions, Financial Aid, etc.
- Create and manage content for OU Musical Theatre Facebook and Student work and alumni success.
- Faculty workMusical Theatre ProductionsGuest Artist Residencies – publicity.
- Current student activities (classes, rehearsals, shows, takeovers).
- New Class announcements and celebrations.
- Senior Showcase marketing.
- Active immersion in the theatre and entertainment world, as a work tool, is a wise strategy for success in this role.
- External Relations – Local, Regional, National partnerships.
- Maintain the school website - content, updates, revisions.
- Liaison to OU Marketing Team as well as College of Fine Arts Marketing and Publicity.
- Upkeep of alumni (and faculty) headshot/bios and promotion.
- Advertising – Local and national.
Qualifications
- The ability to speak, read, and write clear, concise English.
- Composition and proofreading expertise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Adobe Acrobat.
- Social Media expertise with excellent design skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Event planning.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
- A self-starter on long-range projects, working to completion with excellence and reliability, and a focus on customer service.
- Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff.
- Graphic Design skills with an artistic aesthetic.
- Canva, Photoshop, and video-editing skills with an eye towards theatrical form and musicality.
- Photography, videography skills a plus.
- Strong understanding of the Theatre/Broadway industry, including new seasons, current productions, touring schedules, casting, auditions, awards season, trends, and calendars, especially as this content relates to OU Musical Theatre alumni success, and the ability to creatively celebrate these accomplishments with the School community and our stakeholders.
- Social and Emotional Intelligence.
- OCCASIONAL WEEKEND HOURS AROUND OPENING NIGHTS/PRODUCTIONS, PREVIEW AND ADMITTED STUDENT DAYS, AND IMPORTANT SCHOOL EVENTS.
- The ability to be professional and discreet around admission practices and School business.
- Must be able to reach, engage in repetitive motions, communicate, hear and see.
- SOME MINOR LIFTING AND MOVING OF MARKETING EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES – AS NEEDED.
