Admissions & Records Clerk
Creates and maintains admissions records for new applicants and returning students at Nashville State Community College.
- Shares primary responsibility for accepting applications, processing applications, maintaining student records, making referrals and answering questions related to admissions and records requirements, including standards for programs with special admissions requirements.
- Processes applications, transcripts and other admissions documents, ensuring data entry into all systems is accurate.
- Serves as students’ point of contact for inquiries regarding their admissions files and the status of their applications and files.
- Maintains all physical and electronic student files prior to their transfer and release to the Records Office.
- Disseminates information concerning College admissions and records policies and procedures to the campus community as needed.
- Serves as a registrar for the Selective Service System by submitting Selective Service Registration cards for students.
- Affords assistance and support to the Welcome Center as needed and assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience working in a higher education, office or business setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience performing data entry
- Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Professional telephone etiquette skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of population of students, faculty and staff
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed, to support admissions and records events
