Admission Representative Clerk - Allina Health Surgery Center

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries or route calls appropriately.
• Interact with patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Register patients accurately, including demographic, insurance, and contact information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and data entry.
• Handle patient complaints or concerns with empathy and escalate when necessary.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Maintains safe work practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or healthcare certification preferred.
• Experience: 1+ year of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting. 4-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is a plus.
• Preferred Skills: Interfaces well with patients, staff, and physicians. Strong working knowledge of patient access workflows and processes. Knowledge of EMR software and its use. Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology. Excellent people and communication skills.

Pay

• USD $22.00/Hr.
• USD $32.60/Hr.
