CU Boulder’s Office of Admissions is looking for an Admission Counselor to represent the university to prospective students, families, high school counselors, and both on- and off-campus partners.
About the role
This position executes off-campus recruitment activities such as high school visits, college fairs, receptions, and individual meetings, while also hosting and supporting on-campus programming including daily presentations and campus events. The role evaluates domestic first-year applications and requires extensive travel within Colorado and out-of-state, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Build a recruitment schedule and strategy for a targeted regional territory.
- Represent CU Boulder at college fairs, community college visits, large-scale receptions, and other recruitment events.
- Analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy.
- Conduct admission presentations to diverse audiences.
- Advise prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Develop and maintain communication with university partners, high schools, government agencies, and professional organizations regarding admissions.
- Review and render admission decisions on first-year domestic undergraduate applications independently and as part of the admission review committee.
- Analyze applicant information to ensure a smooth admissions process.
- Participate in staff development activities, including workshops, conferences, and professional organizations.
- Engage in admission-related programs such as daily information sessions, prospective and admitted student events, counselor events, and campus visitation programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least one (1)+ years of professional, job-related experience (equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).
- Ability to travel frequently to high schools and other venues, including overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of CU Boulder systems and programs, including Slate, Outlook, and Microsoft Suite.
- Two (2)+ years of experience as a territory manager or recruiter.
- Experience advising or supervising student volunteers/employees or working with college-age students.
- Familiarity with the higher education landscape and admissions processes.
Schedule
- Hybrid format with at least 2 days on campus per week.
- Extensive overnight travel and evening/weekend work required.
Pay
Annual salary range: $55,140–$56,140.
