Admission Counselor

About the role
The Admission Counselor will develop and execute a recruitment strategy for an assigned geographic territory to meet first-year enrollment goals, reporting to the Sr. Associate Director. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40 hours per week over 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Manage a recruitment territory to achieve university enrollment goals as part of the Admission Team.
- Implement recruitment strategies, including high school and community college visits, college fairs, area receptions, and events.
- Follow up with students and parents via phone, text, email, letters, and scheduled appointments.
- Review applications for admission and scholarship eligibility.
- Conduct admission presentations and interviews during on- and off-campus events.
- Advise students and families on admission requirements, financial aid, scholarships, academic programs, and residence life.
- Complete routine reports on recruitment, projections, travel, and professional development.
- Collaborate with current students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders to support recruitment efforts.
- Contribute to the overall success of the enrollment program and university through additional assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive university or leased vehicles under the university’s insurance policy.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and collaborate within a team.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including formal presentations to small and large groups.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to build effective recruiting relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn complex software and social media platforms to enhance recruitment efforts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to develop productive working relationships with university administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
- Willingness to travel and work varied schedules, including nights and weekends.
Skills
