About the role

The Operations Program at The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) provides a wide spectrum of services and support to the management and staff of the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD). This position is under the Performance Planning and Customer Success Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Operates with a high degree of independence in managing division-wide personnel and administrative duties.
  • Establishes and maintains personnel action processes, process improvements, timekeeping processes while delivering quality customer service.
  • Coordination with cross-functioning teams within the division and department.
  • Variety of administrative support for the unit and division.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) years of administrative experience with at least two (2) years experience of at least one or all of the following: State Personnel, human resources, or project management assistance. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, accounting, public administration or a field of study closely related to the work assignment. AND Two (2) years of professional experience in administrative (or general clerical) experience or other closely related experience aligned to the work assigned to the position. OR Master's degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, accounting, public administration or a field of study closely related to the work assignment.

Preferred and Essential Competencies

  • Multi-tasking with competing deadlines and high level of dependency.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Experience in Smartsheets.
  • Experience handling and processing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Skilled in drafting communication announcements and email.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding and some experience in personnel processes such as recruitment, position management, onboarding/off boarding, preferably Colorado State Personnel regulations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work activities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in setting goals and objectives and use time efficiently.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Tactfully interacts with people and adapts interaction, communication, and conflict resolution styles effectively.
