ADMINISTRATOR II Behavioral Health Coordinator

About the role

The Behavioral Health Coordinator will train staff in DBT skills, other therapeutic interventions (CBT, MRT, Motivational Interviewing, etc.), and associated policies and procedures. Responsibilities include delivering Entry Level Training (ELT), initial onsite training, in-service refresher training, and remedial training. If licensed, the incumbent may also provide clinical services and behavioral health interventions to youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite coaching, training, and monitoring of staff delivering DBT and other treatment programs at Victor Cullen Center, Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center, Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, and other locations as requested.
• Deliver training related to the Department’s Behavioral Health Interventions at Entry Level, initial onsite, in-service, and remedial training sessions.
• Support DBT and other Behavioral Health-related groups and, if licensed, provide clinical services at DJS facilities.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.

• 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for each year of experience (up to four years).
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional experience may substitute for the required experience.
• A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
• U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to administration, policy, or unit operations may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Qualifications

• Current, active provisional or independent license or certification issued by the State of Maryland in counseling, psychology, social work, and/or substance use disorder treatment (preferred).
• Two years of experience assessing and/or providing counseling and/or group services to adolescents with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders in the Juvenile Justice system (preferred).
• Two years of experience working with an adolescent population with mental health and/or substance abuse issues (preferred).
• Training in Evidence-Based Therapeutic Skills and Interventions (preferred).

Additional Information

• Employees in this role may be required to operate a motor vehicle and must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license.
• Candidates who meet the qualifications will remain on the certified eligible list for one year, which may be used to fill similar positions.
• Assessment involves rating applications based on education, training, and experience. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
• For education obtained outside the U.S., proof of equivalent American education (via Foreign Credential Evaluation Service) is required at the time of hire.
