About the Role
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Testing and Technology within University Assessment and Testing. It is responsible for the day-to-day administration of local and national testing, which includes proctoring tests such as OSU course tests, placement tests, tests requiring accommodations through Student Accessibility Services (SAS), TOEFL, ACT, CLEP, PROV, ETS tests, FAA certifications, and Pearson Vue tests, amongst others. This position works closely with examinees, faculty, and other OSU administrative offices such as Student Accessibility Services and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to provide information about and deliver the varied services available at the OSU Testing Center.
Responsibilities
- Administer local and national tests, including proctoring exams.
- Coordinate with examinees, faculty, and administrative offices to deliver testing services.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and attention to detail.
- Provide excellent customer service and work independently.
- Manage projects through to completion.
- Utilize technology and software, including databases, to maintain confidential information securely.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Occasional overtime is required, particularly during midterm and final exam weeks. May be required to arrive early or stay late to meet deadlines or workload demands. Occasionally requires involvement in national tests given on select Saturdays each month (direct participation is not always required). Compensation for overtime or Saturday involvement is provided either as overtime pay or by external testing organizations and is beyond the proposed hiring range.
Pay
Hiring range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed-upon start date).
- Experience requirements vary by level:
- Admin Supp Spclt I: 1 year of clerical/customer service experience.
- Admin Supp Spclt II: 2 years of clerical/customer service experience.
- Admin Supp Spclt Sr: 3 years of clerical/customer service experience.
- Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
- Must complete required certifications after hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of experience working in a professional or academic testing center, or 4 years of clerical/customer service experience.
- Experience working in an academic setting and/or administrative office.
- Completion of OSU HR certificate programs after hire.
