About the role
The Broadcasting Engineer role is responsible for monitoring scheduled programming and signal transmissions for Ohio’s public television stations and The Ohio Channel, coordinating with coworkers and station staff to ensure successful distribution of broadcast programming.
Responsibilities
- Operate broadcast control software and systems to manage scheduled media, including editing daily broadcast logs, adjusting local server media metadata, and routing broadcast program content from the national PBS network, The Ohio Channel, Deutsche Welle, The Classic Arts Showcase, and other live programming sources.
- Document discrepancies and technical issues that affect or interrupt the statewide distribution of public television broadcasts, ensuring accurate reporting and rapid support for system integrity.
Requirements
- 24 months experience in communication focused on television engineering techniques.
- OR 9 courses or 24 months training in electronic communication equipment maintenance, operation, and technology (e.g., electronic circuits and instruments, solid state electronics, digital computer communication systems, television systems, electrical circuit and measuring instruments, electronic testing and calibration techniques).
- OR completion of a two-year technical program in broadcast engineering or electronic engineering.
- OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
